Fasting to Lose Weight

Fasting is generally used by religions as a means of demonstrating faith and an opportunity for spiritual reflection, but not many of you know that you can also use fasting to lose weight. Alongside other meanings, fasting has been used for centuries to express a form of protest or specific political views. From now on you can use fasting to lose weight alongside all above. Maybe this isn’t the perfect diet or the most practical way to lose weight, but increasingly more people are using fasting to lose weight or to cleanse the body of toxins. There are two different way in which you can use fasting to lose weight: some diets involve drinking nothing but water or eating only raw foods for a period of one or more days, while others restrict food on alternate days.

How does fasting helps you to lose weight? Basically when you fast, your body dips into energy stores to get the required fuel to keep going, therefore you will lose weight. Also keep in mind that you need to be careful when you are using fasting to lose weight, because our bodies are have been genetically programmed to combat the effects of fasting. When you eat less food, your metabolism slows down to conserve energy, so when you eat regular again your slow metabolism may cause your body to store more energy, meaning that if you don’t get back to your usual diet slowly you will probably gain back all the weight that you lost with fasting. Therefore you need to be careful when you use fasting to lose weight because once you have stopped fasting, your appetite hormones will kick back into gear and you may actually feel hungrier and be more likely to binge.

Some claim that when you use fasting to lose weight your body also gets cleansed of impurities, but only with specific diets. However, there is no evidence that fasting detoxifies your body, or that your body even needs to be detoxified. So besides using fasting to lose weight, i don’t really know is fasting has any other real capabilities.
